City, county groups remind residents to share the road
The city of Steamboat Springs, in conjunction with Routt County and LiveWell Northwest Colorado, is committed to educating residents and visitors about shared responsibility for safety on local roads, sidewalks and trails. Recognizing that it is an ever-present job to promote road safety rules and tips, LiveWell awarded a mini-grant to the city of Steamboat Springs to create educational material for distribution throughout the community, according to a news release.
As the snow starts to melt, the days get longer, and winter activity begins to transfer to spring, all roadway users are reminded to keep an eye out for those on, in or around the roadway.
Two educational graphics have been developed during the course of the past year. The first is a poster-format print targeted at youths regarding general rules of the road, specifically as it pertains to bicycle riding. These posters were distributed to local schools in Steamboat, Oak Creek and Hayden in an attempt to share with youth the importance of roadway etiquette. The second graphic plays off the already popular Routt County-specific Share the Road bumper sticker, but insets local roadway scenes.
Several posters, banners and digital images will be posted via social media and across town starting today in an effort to remind all users to please "Share the Road."
