Steamboat briefs: Hayden library to close Tuesday through Dec. 3

The Hayden Public Library will be installing new carpet beginning today. The library will be closed Tuesday through Dec. 3 and will reopen at 10 a.m. Dec. 4. Volunteers are needed during the project to help move books and furniture. Those who are interested in helping are asked to call 970-276-3777.
Weigh and Win available in South Routt this week
Weigh and Win, a free community program that pays you to achieve a healthy weight, is available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Tuesday at Soroco High School and Wednesday through Friday at South Routt Elementary School in Yampa. Food bank in Hayden will distribute food as needed

Meeting on Medicare open enrollment is Wednesday
Open enrollment for Medicare Part D is through Dec. 7. Medicare beneficiaries are able to change plans during this time. Seniors should review their prescription drug plan and make sure it works with the prescriptions they are taking, said Betsy Packer, Routt County Council on Aging's counselor and coordinator for the Colorado State Health Insurance Assistance Program. VNA holds drop-in clinic for flu, pertussis shots
The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association will be holding a drop-in clinic for flu and pertussis (whooping cough) shots from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Steamboat Springs High School as well as from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Dec. 27 at the Steamboat Springs VNA office. Discounted screenings for pets at area vet clinics
As part of Pet Cancer Awareness Month, area veterinary clinics are offering discounted cancer screening packages, which include an exam, blood work and an abdominal ultrasound.
