City encourages scheduling inspections before Nov. 1

City of Steamboat Springs officials are encouraging contractors and homebuilders who anticipate needing permanent power, a certificate of occupancy or water and sewer service during winter to schedule their projects so that grading and drainage improvements and utility installations are complete and inspected before Nov. 1.

Right of way inspections can be scheduled through the Public Works Engineering Division at 970-871-8210. Callers are asked to provide their name, site address and building permit number. Inspections are not conducted from Nov. 1 to April 1.

To schedule a water or sewer inspection, call the Public Works Utilities Division at 970-871-8207. No water or sewer work can be performed in the right of way from Nov. 1 to May 1.

To apply for an excavation permit, call the Public Works Streets Division at 970-879-1807. Excavation in the public right of way is prohibited from Nov. 1 to May 1. A variance must be approved by the Public Works director to excavate in the right of way during that time.

Also, construction Dumpsters, portable outhouses, material piles, etc., must be out of the right of way before Nov. 1.
