Steamboat briefs: Fundraiser for scholarship program set for March 9

Bowling for Brains, Dollars for Scholars is from 3 to 7 p.m. March 9 at Snow Bowl. The fundraiser costs $35 and includes bowling and food. March events at Old Town Hot Springs in Steamboat
The annual meeting for Old Town Hot Springs members is at 7 p.m. April 17 in the upstairs exercise room.
■ Cardio Motion & Muscle offers choreographed cardio moves with controlled impact. Weight work is included to help develop arm, leg and core strength. The class is at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning next week. The class is free to members and replaces Jazzercise.
■ The Steamboat Springs Triathlon Club runs from May 1 to Aug. 19. The group is coached by professional cyclist and Ironman Amy Charity, who races for Vanderkitten women's professional cycling team. The cost is $425 returning members, $500 for first-time members and $750 for nonmembers. The club cost includes the Bald Eagle Lake Open Water Swim Series on Mondays in July. The club is open to athletes 17 and older. Register at the front desk by April 16.
■ The Bald Eagle Lake Open Water Swim Series is Mondays in July. Swims are one or one-half miles. Forms are available at http://www.sshra.org/bald_eagle.php?id=194.
■ The water safety instructor class prepares students to teach Red Cross Water Safety swim lessons. The class is from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 2 to May 9, will no classes during spring break. Students must be 16 or older. The cost is $250.
■ American Red Cross Certification classes for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator and first aid are from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 and May 1. The cost is $60. Preregister at the front desk.
■ Guard Start is for youths who want to learn to be a junior lifeguard. The class is from 2 to 7 p.m. April 7, and participants must be 13 or older. Register using the swim team registration form.
Swimming team programs
■ Spring swim team prep is from 4:15 to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays from April 1 to 11. Tryouts for swim team are April 15. This class will get swimmers ready for tryouts with circle swimming, swim team etiquette and kick board practice. The cost is $65 for members and $75 for nonmembers.

Registration now open for Teens on Tour Denver trip
Registration is open for the Teens on Tour overnight trip to Denver on March 14 and 15. The program is for teens in sixth through eighth grades and includes shopping at Cherry Creek Shopping Center, swimming at Holiday Inn Select Cherry Creek, three games of laser tag at Laser Quest and rock climbing at Rock'n and Jam'n Indoor Climbing Facility. The $100 cost covers transportation, activity fees, dinner March 14, breakfast and lunch March 15 and hotel accommodations. Participants must bring a sack lunch for March 14.
