Steamboat briefs: First Steps seminar will be held Wednesday at CMC

A First Steps seminar for those who are interested in starting a small business is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the new Academic Center, Room 127, at Colorado Mountain College. The free seminar will help attendees answer the following questions:
Who are my customers, why do they want/need my product/service and how many are out there? How do I build a revenue/sales forecast?

Mainstreet Steamboat to hold meeting Thursday
Mainstreet Steamboat Springs will be holding its annual meeting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Sweetwater Grill. Tom Simmins, of Resort Group/Steamboat Association Management, will be installed as the incoming president for 2013 by retiring President Bill Moser. Speakers for the event include Steamboat Springs Planning Department Director Tyler Gibbs and Downtown Revitalization Partnership Chairman Mark Scully, who will discuss the revitalization of Yampa Street, the proposed Yampa River Park and financing mechanisms for funding improvements. Steamboat Stampede race set for Sunday at center
The Steamboat Stampede cross-country race, part of the Sven Wiik Nordic Cup race series, begins at 9:25 a.m. Sunday at the Steamboat Ski Touring Center. Three-, 5- and 10-kilometer recreational courses as well as 23- and 42-K competitive courses are available. The advance registration cost is $8 for youths 13 and younger, $15 for youths ages 14 to 20 and $25 for adults for recreational courses or $40 for competitive courses through noon Saturday. After noon Saturday, costs increase to $20 for youths ages 14 to 20 and $30 for adults for recreational courses, or $55 for competitive courses.
