Steamboat briefs: County treasurer reminds residents of property tax payments

The Routt County Treasurer's Office reminds residents that full payment of property taxes is due Wednesday. If the first half of the tax payment, which was due Feb. 28, already has been made, the second half is due June 16. Checks may be made out to the Routt County Treasurer; the mailing address is P.O. Box 770907, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477, and the Routt County Treasurer's Office is located at 522 Lincoln Ave. To access an account online, visit http://www.co.routt.co.us, navigate to "Your Government" and click on "Departments" and then "Treasurer." Click on "property tax search" and enter the account number, address, name or parcel number. Call 970-870-5555 with questions.
Youth baseball umpire clinic slated for Sunday
An umpire clinic for the Yampa Valley Youth Baseball Association will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Emerald Park. Bring water, a cap and a jacket, and dress in field clothes and shoes. Lunch is provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring a snack. In case of inclement weather, the clinic will be held at 401 Lincoln Ave., and notices will be posted. All prospective umpires must attend the clinic. Tread of Pioneers Museum closed for maintenance
The Tread of Pioneers Museum on Oak Street in Steamboat Springs will be closed for maintenance projects through Monday.
The museum will reopen with normal business hours Tuesday. Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays.
Spelling bee registration cost increases after Monday
The fourth annual Community Spelling Bee will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Steamboat Springs Community Center.
Participants should start planning their three-person team's membership and think about coming in costume. As in the past, prizes are awarded to the winning team, the best costumed team, and the youngest and oldest speller. Teams need to have at least one speller who is 60 or older. There is no minimum age for the other two team members.

TEFAP commodities boxes distributed by LIFT-UP
LIFT-UP of Routt County will distribute The Emergency Food Assistance Program commodities boxes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to eligible households at each of its locations at the following times: from 1 to 5 p.m. Mondays in Hayden, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays in Oak Creek and from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays in Steamboat Springs.
