Tree removal to cause temporary road closures
Sections of Burgess Creek Road and Storm Meadows Drive will experience temporary 20- to 30-minute closures or delays for a three- to four-week period beginning Thursday and continuing through May 21.
Under a contract with the city of Steamboat Springs, Rogue Resources has been cutting and removing dead and diseased trees in various locations in the Steamboat area. Because of demographics and landscape in the Burgess Creek area, it is necessary to use portions of the Burgess Creek roadway to effectively and efficiently remove the trees safely, according to a city news release.
One lane of traffic will remain closed at intervals during the project, with both lanes closed at 20- to 30-minute increments. In addition, there will be heavy log truck traffic on Burgess Creek Road, Trails Edge Drive and Storm Meadows Drive.
The road will be reopened each night after operations end at 5 p.m. Call Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue at 879-7170 with questions or concerns.
