Steamboat briefs: Community Thanksgiving Dinner is Nov. 28 at center

Upcoming holiday craft fairs around Routt County
■ Holy Name Catholic Church is hosting its 16th annual Work of Human Hands Holiday Craft Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Ninth and Oak streets in Steamboat Springs. The event will include a bake sale to benefit Holy Name's youth group, an authentic Mexican food luncheon, live music and face-painting. Handmade gifts and unique "fair trade" products from several countries around the world will be included in the sale. Featured items include baskets, jewelry, musical instruments, kitchen items, scarves and holiday items. Proceeds from the bazaar will be donated directly to a local charity.
■ Members of the Steamboat Clay Artisans host their annual holiday pottery sale from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Nov. 29 at Blue Sky Pottery, 1475 Pine Grove Road, No. 104. The sale includes holiday gifts, food, refreshments and music of the season.
■ The North Routt Holiday Bazaar is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 30 at North Routt Community Charter School, 26990 Eagle Lane, Clark. The fair includes arts and craft items, such as ornaments, wood work, jewelry, photos and cards as well as clothing items, including knitted hats, scarves and infant wear. There also will be food items, including syrups, jams, herb teas, granola, honey and cookbooks.
Next Parenting and Pizza series will be held Dec. 5
The next program in the Parenting and Pizza series will focus on emotional development from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at Soda Creek Elementary School, 220 Park Ave. Licensed psychologist Barbara Gueldner will discuss promoting your child's emotional development during times of family stress. The program includes pizza and child care, and a $5 per person or $10 per family donation is suggested. Registration is open for Steamboat Nordic Camp
Registration is open for the annual Steamboat Nordic Camp on Dec. 14 and 15 at Lake Catamount Touring Center and the Steamboat Ski Touring Center. The two-day ski camp features instruction for all ability levels, ski equipment demos, lunch, happy hour and prizes. The cost is $175 for two days or $115 for one day through Dec. 9. Fair Family Favorites book is on sale at extension office
The Fair Family Favorites cookbook, which was put together by the Routt County Fair Cookbook Committee for the fair's 100th anniversary, is on sale at the Routt County Extension office in the Routt County Courthouse annex. The cookbook costs $20, and proceeds will go toward upgrading the Exhibit Hall at the Routt County Fairgrounds in Hayden.
