A community blood drive is from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Yampa Valley Medical Center. Walk-ins are welcome from 3 to 5:30 p.m. as space permits. Eat a full meal and drink plenty of water beforehand.
Girls to Women in need of donations and volunteers
Girls to Women, an annual conference for eighth-grade girls in Northwest Colorado, seeks donations and volunteers for the 2012 conference May 8 at The Steamboat Grand. SportsMed to offer circuit Pilates class next month
SportsMed at Yampa Valley Medical Center will offer a circuit Pilates class from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays in March. Participants will learn how to lengthen and strengthen their muscles while discovering the basics of good posture and powerful breathing. The cost is $40 for five classes. VNA offers free February cardiovascular screenings
The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association will provide free cardiovascular screenings from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays in February. Applications accepted for High Impact Funding Grant
Routt County United Way is accepting applications for the Arthur E. Anderson High Impact Funding Grant. The grant amount is $10,000. Any nonprofit or governmental organizations in Routt County that serve Routt County residents can apply to fund a project that provides health and human services to residents of Routt County. Applications that address innovative and collaborative efforts are encouraged. The application is available at http://www.routtcountyunitedway.org or by calling Kelly at 970-879-5605. The deadline is March 16.
Shingles vaccine provided for $14 to some seniors
The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering the Zostavax vaccine for shingles. Adults ages 60 and older who are low income and uninsured (no Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance) may qualify to receive the vaccine for a $14 fee through the Merck Patient Vaccine Assistance Program. Patients may apply for this program by making an appointment at the Steamboat Springs office by calling 970-879-1632 or at the Craig office by calling 970-824-8233.
