Steamboat briefs: City offers updates on current road construction projects

Road construction work continues this week in several areas of Steamboat Springs. Updates about the various projects follow.

OAK STREET
The Oak Street improvement project resumed Last week. Due to the complicated nature of this section, Oak Street will be closed between 11th to 12th streets for about a month.
Detours are in place from Native Excavating affording access westbound or eastbound to U.S. Highway 40/Lincoln Avenue. Westbound access is recommend via 12th Street. Eastbound drivers should use Pine or Crawford to 11th Street taking advantage of the signal for a left turn onto Lincoln Avenue.
Work will include storm sewer installation, curb and gutter, sidewalk installation and handicap ramp installation.

YAMPA STREET
Yampa Street Phase II efforts for the coming week include the following.
■ The public parking lot at Ninth Street remains closed as crews install a new storm water quality device.
■ The sidewalk running along the parking lot and next to Backdoor Sports is now closed and will remain closed throughout the week. Backdoor Sports customers are being detoured to the Ambulance Barn to access the business from the Ninth Street pedestrian bridge side.
■ Work will continue on new curb and gutter and sidewalk near the intersection of 10th and Yampa streets.

EMERALD PARK ACCESS
Access to the Hampton Inn will remain limited to the northern approach until the middle of September. Road closures extending to Trafalgar Drive remain in effect. For the coming week, work will include curb and gutter prep, asphalt removal and preparation work for the new roadway approach to the new railroad crossing.
In addition, pipe crews will install stormwater improvements.

MAJESTIC VALLEY CIRCLE
Clearing and grubbing will be completed this week. For the coming week, work will continue on extending the existing culvert and prep work for curb, gutter and sidewalk. The transit stop is being funded 80 percent by an FTA grant obtained through CDOT.

STONE LANE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE
Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 12, the Stone Lane pedestrian bridge on the Walton Creek Trail will be closed for a bridge refurbishment project. There will be no access across the bridge for the duration of the project, which is expected to last about one month, weather permitting.
Access to the Walton Creek Trail will be via the Chinook Lane trail access. A signed detour will be posted from the Stone Lane trail access to the Chinook Lane trail access for the duration of the project.
