Steamboat briefs: Action from Oak Creek’s board meeting Thursday

Steamboat Springs — At its Thursday meeting, the Oak Creek Town Board:
■ Approved, 6-0, a liquor license renewal for Bonfiglio Dug & Liquor
■ Tabled, 6-0, the transfer of an optional premises cultivation license for Elevation Wellness Center, a medical marijuana dispensary grow operation, to the Craig Apothecary, a dispensary in Craig. Mayor Nikki Knoebel said the town's attorney wanted to look into the matter more.
■ Approved, 6-0, accounts payable for August 2011
■ Approved, 6-0, pay application No. 11 for Duckels Construction for work on the waste water treatment plant. The board elected to withhold $15,000 in payment for aspects of the plant that are not operational or accurate. The town paid $64,086.41.
Free flu shots are available to veterans at Craig clinic
The Craig TeleHealth clinic hosts a flu shot clinic from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Fridays. All veterans are highly encouraged to get their annual flu shot, said Nurse Cindy Dearden, flu shot coordinator. Veterans with a latex allergy should tell staff prior to getting the flu shot so nurses can take special precautions. Call the clinic at 970-824-6721.

Steamboat Art Museum is in need of volunteers
The Steamboat Art Museum needs volunteers to help in its exhibit galleries and gift shop. Volunteers typically work two hours a week and may be asked to greet visitors, give informal tours, help with clerical work and conduct sales in the museum gift shop. Registration open for Pee-wee Adventures
Registration is open for the city of Steamboat Springs' Pee-wee Adventures fall program. The licensed part-time preschool program is for potty-trained 3- to 5-year-olds and is offered from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The fall season begins Tuesday and costs $15 a day. VNA offers screenings, birth control for women
Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association's Women's Health Clinic is offering free IUDs, Nuvaring and Implanon. Other birth control, STD screenings and general women's health care also is offered free to low cost based on income. All income levels are welcome. Horizons programs are in need of volunteer mentors
Horizons Specialized Services is seeking volunteers to serve as mentors to individuals with developmental disabilities in Moffat and Routt counties. Volunteers spend at least three hours a month with Horizons clients. Activities can include hiking, biking, bowling, swimming, fishing, walks, etc. The group needs volunteers for swimming and boating programs.
