Steamboat briefs: 3 candidates for Steamboat Springs School Board emerge

Steamboat Springs School District election official Deb Ginesta confirms that there will be three candidates vying for two open seats on the school board in the Nov. 7 election.
In alphabetical order, they are Anne Cusack-Camacho, Katherine "Katy" Lee and Mayling Simpson.
Voters will select two of the candidates to replace current school board members Sam Rush and Roger Good who have elected not to seek a new term on the school board.

Steamboat News and Brews event planned for 5 p.m. Sept. 13

In place of its regular Coffee and a Newspaper event, Steamboat Today will be hosting News and Brews from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at Butcherknife Brewing Co., 2875 Elk River Road in Steamboat Springs.
The event is open to the community. Members of the Steamboat Today news team will be in attendance to talk about their beats and answer questions about reporting, journalism and other issues of public interest.
Community members are invited to attend, enjoy a beer and interact with members of the newspaper staff.

Free Ask A Finance Professional Clinic concludes Wednesday

Routt County United Way and Routt to Work will host their final free Ask a Financial Professional Clinic for 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Call ahead to reserve your 20-minute session. The program has seen significant interest during the past 6 months, and financial professionals were able to answer numerous questions about student loan debt, credit card debt, inheritance, 401Ks and many other topics.
