Steamboat brief: Registration is open for Steamboat summer camps

Registration is open for all Steamboat Springs school-age summer camp programs. The cost is $36 per day. Registration materials are available at the Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services Department, 245 Howelsen Parkway, and at

The city is continuing the Art, Socialization, Sports, Education and Teamwork programs. Weeklong camp topics include horseback riding, rock climbing, archery and fishing, kayaking, and Lego vehicle engineering. ASSET camps are for children entering third through sixth grades. The Lego camp is open to first- through sixth-graders.

All daily summer camp programs operate from 7:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Mondays through Fridays from June 11 to Aug. 17. The Rocky Mountain Adventure Club, for children entering fourth through sixth grades, meets at the Igloo at Howelsen; the Steamboat Explorer's Club, for children entering second and third grades, and Incredible Steamboat Sneakers, for children 5 and older entering kindergarten or first grade, meet at Soda Creek Elementary School.

The city also is offering a before and after care program for children enrolled in Camp Invention from June 11 to 15.
