Steamboat boys basketball wins close 1 against Roaring Fork
December 4, 2010
Steamboat Springs — The Steamboat Springs High School boys basketball team fell behind early against Roaring Fork on Friday, before getting contributions from all over the place in a 49-43 win.
Steamboat struggled early with Roaring Fork's inside game, falling behind, 29-25, at halftime.
The Sailors struggled with foul trouble during the night, and starting forwards Randall Nelson and Eric Trousil were relegated to the bench. In their place, however, Ryan Hall and Jake Miller provided big contributions off the bench.
"Jake Miller was probably the difference," Steamboat coach Luke DeWolfe said.
Steamboat turned that halftime deficit into a 35-31 lead after three quarters.
Charles Wood led the team with 12 points. Justin Anderson scored 11 points, and Isiah Forsyth and Nelson each had nine.
Steamboat finishes the Brenda Patch Tournament at 1 p.m. today in Roaring Fork against Basalt.
