Steamboat Alpine skier Anna Marno out for season with knee injury
February 14, 2013
Steamboat Springs — Steamboat Springs Alpine skier Anna Marno reinjured her left knee in January, ending her season.
Marno was having a banner year and seemed destined for the World Cup circuit. She was leading the NorAm Tour and was on the cusp of earning a World Cup start.
But in January while free skiing in Austria, Marno injured her left knee again, tearing the ACL in her left knee for the second time. She previously tore it in February 2011.
“It’s a different kind of bummer,” Marno said Thursday, five weeks removed from surgery. “I guess it’s better to know what to expect and how to go through recovery.”
Marno, who was on the U.S. Ski Team’s development team, will rehab this spring in Steamboat before heading to Park City, Utah, in the summer to continue her rehab.
She said her goal is to be healthy by September.
