Howelsen to play host to weekend races
The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club will be hosting the University of Colorado Invitational Nordic Race at Howelsen Hill on Thursday through Saturday. About 350 competitors are expected for the event.
Nordic trails used for the race will include portions of the Rodeo Loop, Hakan Spar and the Bluffs Loop. These trails will be closed to all fat bikes and snowshoers for the duration of the event. All remaining trails will remain open to approved trail users including skiers, fat bikes and snowshoers with tickets required.
Additionally, Alpine ski trails including Lower Long John, Timbers, Rolling Pitch and Straight Shot will be closed because of the event.

The race will include athletes from two in-state schools, University of Colorado and Denver University, as well as five more collegiate teams from across the region. Winter Sports Club athletes will also race, alongside skiers from eight other clubs.
