South Routt Medical Center undergoes renovation, expansion
September 3, 2013
Steamboat Springs — The South Routt Medical Center's building in Oak Creek is undergoing a remodel and expansion. During the project, medical, dental and sports medicine services will be located next to the Phippsburg post office.
A support structure will be built over the building at 300 Main St., and a 1,000-square-foot expansion will be constructed on its east side.
"The construction will consist of a structure built over the existing building to preserve the building and provide a framework to build onto," wrote Ann Trout, president of the medical center's board. "This supportive structure also will lessen the amount of demolition waste and provide a structure to place a second story if future demand dictates."
The expansion will provide needed space, wrote Trout, and the remodel of the existing space will make it more efficient.
The project is funded by the South Routt Medical Center Health Service District and grants from Colorado's Department of Local Affairs and the Gates Family Foundation.
Medical services are available at the medical center’s temporary Phippsburg location Mondays through Fridays, and dental hygiene services are provided Tuesdays and Fridays.
