Soroco volleyball wins again
Rams look toward Friday showdown with Tigers in Hayden
September 15, 2011
Steamboat Springs — Give credit to the Soroco High School volleyball team for the way it finishes matches.
For a second consecutive contest, the Rams were pushed toward defeat before finishing with a flurry. This time, it was Tuesday in North Park, where the Rams went on to win, 3-2.
Soroco took the match 22-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-16 and 15-6.
"Well, we won in five again, which is good, but we should have done it a little easier than that," Soroco coach Kim Reeves said. "But a win is a win."
The Rams struggled with their serve-receive in the first three sets of Tuesday's match. It led to too many unforced errors and put Soroco on the brink of defeat.
But the team responded when it mattered.

The Rams (2-1) cut down on errors in the fourth and fifth games, easily winning both.
"When the pressure is on, they don't break," Reeves said. "They work together more when the pressure gets higher."
Shelby Miles led the Rams with 10 kills and seven blocks. Micaela Meyer had eight kills, and Josie Rossi kicked in four blocks.
Now Soroco looks toward its cross-county rival Hayden. The two teams play at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Hayden.
Although the Tigers have struggled early in the season, Reeves expects an entertaining and competitive game.
"We want to play aggressive and eliminate the errors," Reeves said. "We should be able to have a great game. We always have a great game no matter how good each team is because it's such a great rivalry."
