Soroco volleyball struggles through weekend

Joel Reichenberger

The Soroco High School volleyball team didn’t manage to make much of its first full weekend of games, the Rams falling twice in straight sets.

Soroco lost, 3-0, on Friday night at Vail Mountain, then again fell 3-0 on Saturday at home against West Grand.

“Our biggest issue in both matches was getting behind in the very beginning and not having our serve receive as strong as we needed it to be,” Rams coach Kim Reeves said. “We just can’t get in those holes at the very beginning.”

Things will get harder before they get easier, too. Soroco will play one of last season’s best teams, Vail Christian, at 6 p.m. Thursday at home before traveling Friday to face Rangely.

“We learned a lot of stuff that we need to work on, so we’ll move forward and try to fix some of that stuff,” Reeves said. “The one thing I was proud of with the girls, they never gave up. They very easily could have and they didn’t, so that was awesome.”
