Soroco volleyball finally finds the win column
October 5, 2013
Steamboat Springs — Twelve straight games of losing can break a team.
For Soroco High School volleyball, it fortified them, and for the first time all season, the Rams know what winning feels like.
It was a brutal start to the season, but Rams coach Jeannie Jo Logan said that during the past few weeks, the team started to come around. On Friday, Soroco snagged its first win in 2013, beating North Park in four games, 23-25, 31-29, 25-15, 25-22.
And what did the Rams do for an encore? They won again, this time in straight games Saturday against South Park, 26-24, 25-15, 25-14.
"I'm extremely proud of them," Logan said. "We went through a hard time there the last few weeks. It was breaking us down. We watched a lot of film, and we could see the changes. They saw it and believe things were changing."
Confidence above all else, Logan said, is what finally got her Rams over the losing hump. Soroco won long rallies, came back from early adversity and got some notches in the win column as the season nears its end.
"We do look different," Logan said. "We are playing better, and we are playing harder. It'll come. We had some things we needed to clean up, and they did that."
