Soroco Middle School staff: Soroco says ‘thanks’

It takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes a village to create a fun-packed Winter Studies Day. For more than 10 years, Soroco Middle School students have been celebrating what it means to live in Routt County in the wintertime. The students spend the entire day at Stagecoach State Park exploring and learning in a winter environment. They get a full-on Routt County winter experience.

This year's Winter Studies Day was a great success, and many people contributed their time, talents and knowledge to make it happen. First, thank you to Stagecoach State Park staff (especially Kimi and Kathleen) for allowing us to use your facilities and for being so accommodating and gracious. Thank you also to Mitch Espinoza and his gang from the fish hatchery; Jon Anarella, from the U.S. Forest Service; Kevin McGarrity, from Yampatika; Mike Albrecht, from Howelsen Ice Arena; the guys at Straightline Sports; Tom Thurston and his dogsledding crew; Janet Panebaker and her dog Annie; Rose Swenson; and all the parents who provided cardboard, who donated sleds, who served as group leaders, who provided a delicious lunch (we had a feast!) and who helped us serve lunch to 120 people. Each and every one of you played an important role, and we could not have done it without you. Thank you for your support.
