Soroco girls hoops hangs on to winning ways, defeats West Grand, 47-27

— It is as it was, and for the Soroco High School girls basketball team, that's great news.

The squad opened the season 5-1, and on Saturday, playing for the first time in a month, the Rams proved they didn't lose any of their momentum, beating West Grand, 47-27.

"Anytime we can beat West Grand, we'll take it," Soroco coach David Bruner said. "I'm pleased with where we're at, but we have a lot of work to do."

Shelby Meyer led the way for Soroco, scoring 16 points. Haley Johnson had seven, and Jacey Schlegel and Josie Rossi each scored six.

Rossi also added 14 rebounds.

"She played great on defense," Bruner said about Rossi. "It was one of her better overall performances."
