Soroco boys basketball can’t hang with Plateau Valley

— The Soroco High School boys basketball was out rebounded and in time outplayed by Plateau Valley on Friday night, falling to the Cowboys, 63-32.

"They're very good, a better team and they played that way," Rams' coach Andy Johnson said.

He pointed to his team's defensive rebounding deficiency to explain the game, which got out of hand in the second quarter when Plateau Valley outscored Soroco, 17-3.

"We gave up way too many second-chance points," Johnson said. "They didn't come out and execute their offense and hit every shot. We executed on defense, but we didn't rebound so well."

The Cowboys clogged up Soroco's cutting lanes on the other end of the court, holding the Rams offense to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters of the game.

Nic Paxton broke through to lead the team with 13 and Leif Carlson added 12.

Soroco returns to action today for a non-league game against West Grand.

"That will be a big game, even if it's not for the league," Johnson said. "We're just going to keep trying to improve."
