Slight warm-up in forecast this week for Steamboat Springs
December 9, 2013
Steamboat Springs — The arctic air that has kept the Yampa Valley and the rest of the state bone-chillingly cold in recent days will hang around here for a little while longer.
But the good news is that after several days with highs in just the single digits and teens, temperatures could reach the low 30s by Wednesday.
And that just might feel toasty.
"We're going to slowly warm up through the week," said Chris Cuoco, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Grand Junction.
The bad news for powderhounds is there isn't much snow expected to accompany the ongoing cold spell.
Cuoco said the next chance of snow will come Friday night.

Steamboat and the rest of the state have been trapped under a mass of cold, arctic air in recent days.
Cuoco said without a strong cold front on the horizon to scour that air away, it'll take longer for the air to warm up.
The high temperature for the week currently is expected to reach 31 degrees.
