Sickness slows Soroco girls

Soroco High School girls basketball coach David Bruner said the rampant sickness that slowed his team Friday may not have made a difference. Meeker, he said, is the best team in the league and showed it Friday, winning 60-31.

Still, he said those bouts of sickness — which hampered three of the team’s top four scorers — kept the game from ever being close.

“We were never in the game,” he said. “That’s the first time that’s happened this year, and it had a lot to do with our health. But Meeker’s an awfully good team, too.”

The Rams got seven points each from DaKota Bruner and Jessica Rossi.

They return to action at 2:30 p.m. Saturday against Rangely.

“We have to bounce back,” David Bruner said. “We have to find a way to win. Hopefully, we’ll come out and play a little better.”
