April 11, 2014
Steamboat Springs — Steamboat Springs High School boys lacrosse remained undefeated with a dominant win at Grand Junction on Friday night, and now the Sailors are one of just two unbeaten teams left in the state.
Steamboat cruised to a 10-1 win against the Tigers behind senior Ben Wharton's five goals to remain perfect.
The Sailors used a 5-0 first half to jump out to a shutout start, giving up a lone goal in the final 24 minutes behind senior goalie Kaleb VanArsdale's huge night. VanArsdale led the way with a game-high 15 saves in front of the net.
Senior Peter White and sophomore Drew Williamson each pitched in a pair of goals. Willy Gunn scored once.
Steamboat — now 10-0 — travels to Fruita Monument (3-4) on Saturday for a 3 p.m. game. The Sailors won't be home again until the final regular-season game of the year when they host Aspen on May 3.
