Routt County United Way continues to exceed its goals.

The nonprofit had no trouble reaching a new fundraising target during the first $20K Day for United Way. The community contributed $49,706, including a $10,000 match from the United Way board of directors and staff, to support its annual giving campaign, Executive Director Kelly Stanford said Thursday. It's a single-day event record.

That brings the annual giving campaign total to $219,995, more than 43 percent of this year's $510,000 goal. Proceeds from the campaign support more than 40 local health and human service organizations.

"We're very pleased," Stanford said. "Our community is very generous. They continue to show that to us through their support through our campaign but especially with these $10K and $20K days. The community remains supportive of our efforts to impact lives through health and human service programs."

Thursday's event was the first with a $20,000 fundraising goal. Previous events set a target of $10,000. The fundraising total from Thursday and the $10K Day on Sept. 15 is $95,480.

Stanford said the events included 47 new donors.
