Steamboat, Soroco and Hayden wrestling
Steamboat Springs — 5:30 p.m. Thursday: Routt County Triangular in Hayden
It's the last time to see all three area schools in town before the teams prep for regionals and state. The competition should be good. Previously when the three teams met, Steamboat came out on top. Hayden coach Chad Jones said last week he was hoping for a good crowd and had some things in store to blow out the meet. Hayden and Soroco also compete at 9 a.m. Saturday in Meeker.
9 a.m. Thursday: Steamboat at Loveland slalom
The Alpine team has been lights out this year in slalom events. Last week, it finally got to see the rest of the state at a giant slalom in Loveland. The boys and girls teams each finished third. The team should move back toward the podium with half the competition and its desired event.
11 a.m. Saturday: Steamboat at Aspen
Steamboat is coming off a good showing in a classic meet at home. The Sailors got a win on the girls side, and Peter White was second in the boys meet. At this point, the girls team looks to be rounding into form before the state championship meet while the boys still have a ways to go.

7:30 p.m. Friday: Steamboat (8-7) at Palisade (11-4)
2:30 p.m. Saturday: Steamboat at Delta (9-6)
The Steamboat Springs boys basketball team has a tough test on the road against two of the top teams in the Western Slope League. Right now, the Sailors are tied for fourth in the league. A win or two would solidify Steamboat's seeding for the district tournament. Of course with this Steamboat team, which plays well and then not so well, the weekend is again a guessing game.

6 p.m. Friday: Steamboat (7-8) at Palisade (7-8)
1 p.m. Saturday: Steamboat at Delta (12-3)
Steamboat is in need of wins as the season winds down. The team sits sixth in the Western Slope League with a pair of games against teams ahead of it, including No. 1 Delta. Steamboat seems to have dialed in its rotation, and any win this weekend would be a good one.
6:30 p.m. Friday: Steamboat (6-7-2) vs. Fountain Valley (12-3)
3 p.m. Saturday: Steamboat vs. Monarch (14-1)
To say the weekend is imperative would be an understatement. Steamboat hockey simply needs wins. The team sits in ninth in the Foothills Conference, with the top eight seeds making the playoffs. With four games remaining, all at home, the Sailors most likely need to win at least three of them to make the playoffs. It won't be easy. Steamboat plays Fountain Valley, the No. 2 seed in the Peak Conference, and Monarch, which leads the Foothills Conference.
Hayden boys basketball
7 p.m. Friday: Hayden (12-2) vs. West Grand (7-7)
4 p.m. Saturday: Hayden at North Park (4-10)
It's hard, at least on paper, to find another loss for the Hayden boys team. The Tigers got through one of its biggest weekends of the year last week. Hayden beat Rangely and its top competitor Meeker. Senior guard Paul Laliberte was out against Meeker, and Hayden still was able to win.
Hayden girls basketball
5:30 p.m. Friday: Hayden (2-12) vs. West Grand (5-10)
2:30 p.m. Saturday: Hayden at North Park (6-9)
If the Hayden girls have a chance at a winning weekend, this could be it. The team played West Grand tough earlier in the year and had just a three-point loss to North Park. The Tigers have shown signs of playing well at times but haven't been able to do it in bunches.
Soroco boys basketball
7:30 p.m. Friday: Soroco (6-8) vs. North Park (4-10)
2:30 p.m. Saturday: Soroco at West Grand (7-7)
The Soroco boys have struggled the past two weeks with the top teams in the league. The Rams have lost three straight but should have a good chance to get back to the middle of the pack in the league this weekend. Saturday's game against West Grand will be key. Soroco previously beat West Grand, 68-65.
Soroco girls basketball
6 p.m. Friday: Soroco (9-5) vs. North Park (6-9)
4 p.m. Saturday: Soroco at West Grand (5-10)
Soroco is coming off a rough week where it struggled in a pair of losses. The Rams have been up and down all year. But with a pair of winnable games left, Soroco has a chance to move up in the league standings.
