Routt County Search and Rescue called to King Solomon Falls
July 1, 2012
Steamboat Springs — Routt County Search and Rescue was called Sunday afternoon to rescue a 26-year-old man who possibly broke his back after he jumped off of King Solomon Falls in far North Routt County, according to emergency radio traffic.
The man was reportedly conscious and breathing after the fall. No additional information about the result of the rescue was available from emergency responders Sunday night.
Because of the isolation of the falls, previous rescues there have proven treacherous.
According to Steamboat Today archives, a crew of 22 people spent more than four hours in 2009 rescuing a 25-year-old Steamboat woman who was injured there after she jumped 65-feet from a cliff. A Search and Rescue volunteer said then that the incident resulted in the third hospitalization in five years from the waterfall, which is two miles from the nearest road.
