Routt County collegiate athletes round-up for Jan. 7

Mike Vandahl, basketball
2008 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, senior at Western State Colorado University
Vandahl had one of his best weeks of the season as the Mountaineers picked up two wins. Vandahl started and played 21 minutes, scoring five points and tallying five assists and four rebounds in a 94-63 win against Colorado Mines on Thursday. He then took his game up a notch, starting again and logging 29 minutes en route to a 14-point performance. He hit two 3-point shots and all four of his free throws in addition to grabbing two steals, dishing one assist and getting four rebounds in a 99-86 win against Colorado Christian. The week bumped the team to 7-5 on the season and 6-2 in RMAC play.
Erin Koehler, basketball
2012 graduate of Hayden High School, freshman at Colorado School of Mines
Koehler saw limited time in a pair of Mines games through the weekend. She played three minutes both in a 69-53 loss to Colorado Mesa and in a 66-53 win against Western State. The team is 8-5 on the year and 5-2 in RMAC play. Mesa is leading the league with 12-0 and 8-0 records.
Daniel Wright, soccer
2009 graduate of The Lowell Whiteman School, senior at Colorado College
Wright was named to the Division III Academic All-America Team, earning a spot on the second team. He was joined by two teammates in that accomplishment. Wright also was named all-conference second team and, according to a release, carries a 3.68 GPA in anthropology. He finished the season with 10 goals and 24 points, making it 18 goals for his career.
