Routt County candidates eying November election
January 30, 2014
Steamboat Springs — Several people have declared their intentions to run for Routt County political offices in the Nov. 4 election.
Political party caucuses will be held March 4.
Sheriff Garrett Wiggins and Coroner Rob Ryg will seek re-election, while current appointed Treasurer Brita Horn is seeking to keep her position. Those races are uncontested, so far.
One of the three commissioner seats is up for election. The District 3 seat currently is held by Steve Ivancie, who was appointed to the position in December 2012. On Thursday, he said he will seek election. Former Steamboat Springs City Council member Cari Hermacinski also is seeking the District 3 seat.
Routt County Clerk and Recorder Kay Weinland will not seek re-election. Kim Bonner, who currently works in the office, is running to replace Weinland.
According to the Colorado Secretary of State’s website, there currently are no declared candidates for the assessor or surveyor jobs.
