Renee Louise Mitchem (1981-2005)

Steamboat Springs resident Renee Louise Mitchem died June 26, 2005. She was 24.

Renee was born Jan. 17, 1981, in Rifle. She spent her childhood in Fruita and graduated from Steamboat Springs High School. She was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church and a CNA at the Doak Walker Care Center.

Renee lived a full life in 24 years. At 18, she entered the U.S. Army where she completed training in Germany to be an Airborne Military Police. She traveled to Europe, the Bahamas, and Mexico. She was an accomplished trumpet player. She loved big horses and rode them well.

Renee is survived by her parents, Jim and Linda Mitchem of Steamboat; her sister, Mira Love, of Myrtle Beach, S.C; grandparents, Bill and Martha Mitchem of Rangely, Dessie Stone of Grand Junction; and her little dog, Evita.

Renee will always be loved and missed by her family.

Funeral services and mausoleum internment were held July 1 at the Memorial Gardens in Grand Junction.
