Power returns to Steamboat Ski Area, base area after hourlong outage
January 1, 2013
Steamboat Springs — A power outage at 12:46 p.m. Tuesday left about one-third of Steamboat Ski Area and the base area — including Burgess Creek, Ski Trail Lane, Gondola Square and Ski Time Square — without power for about one hour.
At the ski area, affected lifts were switched to backup and generator power and operated with limited disruption, spokesman Mike Lane said. Upper mountain facilities were unaffected.
A Yampa Valley Electric Association official said 1,068 meters in the area were without power because of a problem at the Mount Werner substation. Crews were able to restore power at 1:49 p.m.
