Police: 17-year-old linked to burglaries

Police and prosecutors are charging that a 17-year-old Steamboat Springs youth was involved in four local burglaries in late 2008, including a theft of guns from a police storage locker.

Steamboat Springs Police Department Detective Capt. Bob DelValle said the 17-year-old was involved in three burglaries in Steamboat and one in Craig.

Police are charging that the youth stole the guns from a commercial storage locker in the 1700 block of Lincoln Avenue. He also is implicated in the burglary of The Click skateboard shop in December 2008 and the theft of tattoo equipment in Steamboat and Craig.

The police withheld the boy's name because he is a minor.

"He's been arrested already, and it's a matter of the (district attorney) discussing an agreement with the defendant's attorney," DelValle said.

The same person was charged with possession of firearms and explosives in Denver, DelValle said.
