Officials to get update on Hayden Speedway

— The Hayden Town Council on Thursday is expected to get an update on bringing back racing to the Hayden Speedway.

Hayden resident Corey Hunter has been leading the charge and raising money to open the track for seven races this summer. Races would begin June 14 and then every other weekend with a final race in September.

Hunter plans to move forward with getting zoning approval from Routt County.

The Town Council will hear staff reports beginning at 7 p.m. The regular meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.

At the meeting proclamations also will be read proclaiming April as Month of the Young Child, April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and Friday as Arbor Day. Hayden again was recognized in 2013 as a Tree City USA.
