Oak Creek Town Board to vote on new member

Nicole Inglis

— At Thursday's Oak Creek Town Board meeting, the board is scheduled to revote on inducting a new member.

After Lawrence Jaconetta resigned at the end of May, resident Dave Maris was the only person who submitted a letter of interest for the position.

With only three board members at the last meeting, and Mayor Nikki Knoebel voting as a board member to make four, the vote ended in a 2-2 tie. With no way to break the tie, the vote was tabled until tonight's meeting, when more board members will be on hand to vote.

If Maris is voted down, the town will start again by requesting letters of interest.

Also on the agenda for tonight's board meeting is a discussion of draft Ordinance 612. The new ordinance on licensing of medical marijuana centers and grow operations in the town would amend the fee structure for applications and inspections in Ordinance 603.

In recent work sessions, the board has discussed increasing annual licensing fees from $75 to $1,000, along with similar rate increases for inspections.

The numbers reflected in the draft come from the work sessions, but Oak Creek Town Clerk Karen Halterman said the board would discuss them further at the meeting tonight and possibly vote on the draft ordinance.

Also on the agenda are items relating to the wastewater treatment plant and water tank projects and another discussion on a possible sales tax or property tax measure on November's ballot.
