Oak Creek to host Routt County Board of Commissioners candidates

Michael Schrantz

— If Oak Creek residents want a chance to hear what the four candidates for the Routt County Board of Commissioners have to say about South Routt, they should make sure they're at Thursday's Oak Creek Town Board meeting at 7 p.m.

Doug Monger, Tina Kyprios, Jim "Moose" Barrows and Tim Corrigan have committed to attend the Town Board meeting and participate in an open discussion about the issues on voters' minds.

Town Administrator Mary Alice Page-Allen said the discussion is to "find out what's important to them and what's important to us."

In other business, the Town Board will consider a revocable permit for a fence former Trustee Dawn Smith wants to finish that encroaches on a town right of way.

The Town Board also will consider a supplemental budget for 2012.

The supplemental budget seeks to add $29,657 to the general fund, with the majority of that expense due to increased police costs. Bobby Rauch and Ed Corriveau are the town's new officers and are on the town's payroll for the fourth quarter. Rauch was sworn in Sept. 27, and Corriveau started Tuesday and was sworn in by Page-Allen but also will be sworn in by Mayor Nikki Knoebel on Thursday.

The supplemental budget increases will be covered by revenues from mineral lease and severance taxes that were above budget, according to Page-Allen.

Oak Creek's 2013 budget will be presented at the meeting. A public hearing for the budget is scheduled for Nov. 8, and adoption of a budget is scheduled for Dec. 11.
