Oak Creek business owner hoping to catch brisket thief

— An Oak Creek business owner is hoping to have a successful year so she can purchase security cameras to catch the person who has been stealing her brisket.

Rachel Green, owner of Rachel's Smokin' Cafe on Bell Street, said the thefts have occurred dozens of times since she opened her business 2 1/2 years ago.

"It's just frustrating," she said.

It's unknown who has been taking the food, but Green suspects someone has been coming through the door overnight. Money also has been taken from the cash register.

Green reported the most recent theft to the Routt County Sheriff's Office on Aug. 22. She discovered a brisket and bacon had been taken overnight.

"Hopefully, we'll have a good year so I can buy some security cameras so they can catch the person who is doing it," Green said.
