A 58-year-old man from Reno, Nev., was taken to Yampa Valley Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries Sunday after his motorcycle collided with a deer on U.S. Highway 40 near mile marker 153 in Grand County, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
State Patrol Sgt. Scott Elliot said Christopher Wells was ejected from his motorcycle after it collided with the deer at about 4:35 p.m. He said Wells was riding with four other motorcyclists before the crash and that two of them also hit the deer but were able to stay on their bikes and avoid injury.
Hospital spokeswoman Christine McKelvie said Wells was treated in the emergency room at YVMC. He was then transferred to Denver Health Medical Center where he is listed in fair condition.
