2017 Navigator Award winners announced

A bank executive, a hotel manager, a property manager and a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the arts in Steamboat Springs are the winners of this year's Navigator Awards.
The awards have been given since 1999 through a partnership between Steamboat Today and the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association.
The winners will be recognized during an event Sept. 8 at Thunderhead Lodge. Tickets can be purchased at steamboatchamber.com.
Alpine Bank President Adonna Allen is the Business Person of the Year.
The Routt County ranch Allen was raised on has been in the family for five generations, and Allen has been actively involved in the agriculture community.
She has served in volunteer positions for various agriculture and business organizations.

At the bank, she leads a branch that is known as being innovative and creative.
The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is being recognized as the Business of the Year.
For two years, under the leadership of Kim Keith, the Arts Council has been working toward having Steamboat recognized as a Creative District by the state of Colorado.
It recently won that recognition.
"The application process alone was grueling and detailed, more like a Ph.D. thesis in length," Arts Council board member Candice Bannister said.
This year's Young Professional of the Year has been active in several civic organizations and is the director of operations for her family's business, Central Park Management.
Most of Tara Weaver's philanthropic efforts are geared toward the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs, where she has chaired such fundraisers as the Community Barn Dance and Ski Town Classic, leading to record proceeds. She serves on 10 different Rotary committees, bringing her ceaseless energy to each.
"Her ideas are always well thought out and fair, and her commitment and follow through are second to none," said Gillian Morris, one of the people who nominated Weaver.
A new category was added to the Navigator Awards this year to recognize people who specifically work in the service industry.
Barbara Robinson is the first Service Excellence Professional of the Year.
She has served as the general manager of the Holiday Inn for 15 years and has worked in the hospitality industry for 30 years.
In recent years, the hotel has been recognized with top awards from the industry based on guest satisfaction surveys.
"Barbara is not a 'sit at your desk' general manager," hotel owner Scott Marr said. "She actively engages with hotel guests and staff, many of whom have been around for a decade or more. She encourages staff to reach their potential, and management positions have been primarily filled from within the front line staff. Her cellphone is always on for guests and staff."
