Mount Werner Sinclair now Loaf ’N Jug
January 7, 2010
Steamboat Springs — The former Mount Werner Sinclair convenience store on Mount Werner Road now is branded Loaf 'N Jug, putting the store in close proximity to its corporate cousin, the City Market grocery in Central Park Plaza.
Both stores are part of The Kroger Co.
A subsidiary of Kroger paid $3.2 million for the real estate that houses the convenience store last month.
Dillon Real Estate Co., of Pueblo, bought a pair of commercial buildings at 2110 Mount Werner Road comprising 5,820 square feet from Sinclair Oil Corp. for $3.2 million Dec. 14. Loaf 'N Jug also has headquarters in Pueblo.
The company also has a long-standing store in Craig. It is among 174 stores located primarily in Colorado and Wyoming, but with other locations in North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
Two Steamboat businesses, KBCR Big Country Radio and Steamboat Home Management and Realty, are tenants in the same building that houses the convenience store. They expect to remain in their offices after the transition from Mount Werner Sinclair to Loaf 'N Jug.
"There's no indication that we're going anywhere," KBCR General Manager Brian Harvey said. Steamboat Home Management principal Jim Funk said his company will remain in the location. The second building in the transaction is a car wash.
Loaf 'N Jug stocks a variety of Kroger store brand products, according to corporate literature. They include Kroger paper and cleaning products, pet food, cheese, spices and coffee.
The pastry case will be filled with baked goods from the nearby City Market, according to a store clerk.
A Loaf 'N Jug executive close to the Steamboat transaction did not return calls seeking comment Wednesday.
