Ski area officials said the additional lift and trail openings effective Friday will push the skiable acreage to 2,661.
Eleven lifts will serve 144 trails. The trails to open Friday are: Moonlight, Lights Out, lower Shadows, Sundown Lift Line, lower Three O'Clock, Daybreak, lower High Noon, Rolex, Westside, Broadway, Tomahawk, Flintlock, Quick Draw, Spur Run, Huffman's and Sunshine Lift Line.

The Fly Steamboat direct flight winter air service at Yampa Valley Regional Airport kicks off Dec. 16 when daily flights from Chicago and Dallas — as well as multiple daily flights from Denver — begin touching down in Hayden. The program really ramps up Dec. 18 with the addition of flights from Atlanta, Minneapolis, Houston and Newark, N.J.
Resort officials hope the 122 inches of snow that has fallen on Mount Werner since late October helps sell vacation packages to Steamboat.
The ski area is marketing a ski free package through Dec. 17 for visitors who book at least three nights of lodging through Central Reservations. A Champagne Powder package provides 20 percent off lodging, lift tickets and equipment rentals if booked by Jan. 31.
The ski area's First Tracks program, which allows skiers and riders to pay extra to access the mountain early on powder days, begins Wednesday. New this year is a $29 unguided option. The traditional guided First Tracks program costs $59 a person in addition to the cost of a lift ticket. Also new this year is that First Tracks will include access to the Sunshine Express and South Peak chairlifts.
