Mike Smith: Excel Gymnastics saved

Mike Smith

It is with great pleasure that I write to say that Excel Gymnastics has been saved. The open gym fundraiser that we held last Sunday was a success. With the help of the funds contributed that day and from a generous "angel investor," we are going to be able to continue to offer all of the great services you have come to expect.

I want to extend a very large thank you to the community of Steamboat Springs for taking the time to come by Excel Gymnastics this past Sunday to "Keep the Gym Open" and to "Keep a Kid's Dream Alive." The response was amazing, and watching the kids all having so much fun in the gym was wonderful. Special thanks especially to all of our Gold Medal donors who contributed $250 or more to the cause and to the local businesses that generously gave to support our door prizes and "Perfect 10" prize drawing.

No event of this magnitude is done by one individual. Without the assistance of a committed group of parent volunteers who really wanted to keep gymnastics going in Steamboat Springs, we would have had to close this Friday. So when you see Jimmy and Marianne Capra, Summer Walker, Emilie Rogers, Denise Brown or Laurin Cooke please express your thanks to them. They worked hard and tirelessly, and to all of them, I extend my heartfelt appreciation. Thank you!
