Meeting about Pro Cycling Challenge impact Monday
August 15, 2011
Steamboat Springs — Steamboat residents who want to know how the Pro Cycling Challenge will affect the Steamboat area are invited to attend a community open house at 6 p.m. Monday at Centennial Hall. The meeting will outline the race's logistics in detail.
Local organizing committee Chairman Jim Schneider said Sunday that he will give a 20 to 30 minute presentation outlining the impact the race will have on the community. After the presentation, he and representatives from the Steamboat Springs Police Department and the Colorado State Patrol will field questions about road closures and other topics.
He said that the feedback he's gotten from residents who live near roads that will be closed has mostly been positive but that he doesn't doubt there will be at least a few inconveniences.
"The best thing to do is to come and see the event," he said. "But if you have no desire to see the race, it might be best to stay away from the downtown area."
