Mandatory water restrictions lifted for Oak Creek after lightning damage is repaired
August 29, 2013
Steamboat Springs — Water restrictions for Oak Creek were lifted at 7:30 a.m. Thursday after lightning damage at the water plant was repaired.
A lightning strike Friday evening knocked out the electronic controls for the plant, and users were placed under mandatory restrictions while town staff manually operated the plant.
“Public works employees are to be commended, particularly Public Works Director Tom Holliday, for their almost weeklong efforts to manually operate the plant while repairs were underway,” Town Administrator Mary Alice Page-Allen wrote in an email.
