Man sustains serious injuries after ATV rolls in North Routt
July 6, 2011
Steamboat Springs — A 28-year-old man was taken to Yampa Valley Medical Center with serious injuries after rolling an all-terrain vehicle in North Routt County on Wednesday afternoon.
Routt County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Doug Scherar said authorities were dispatched at about 2:10 p.m. to a ranch off Routt County Road 56A.
Routt County Communications told emergency responders that the man reportedly had crushed his head, was bleeding and had difficulty breathing. Scherar did not want to release the man's name because he was unsure whether the man's family had been notified.
Scherar said he responded to the accident and was investigating but did not know what caused the ATV to roll. He said that the man was on the ATV alone and that he thinks the man lives in Steamboat Springs. Scherar was in the process of talking to potential witnesses.
