Man in critical condition after fall

A Steamboat Springs man was flown to a Denver-area hospital after falling from a second-story window Wednesday evening.

Neil Siettmann, 62, was taken by ambulance to Yampa Valley Medical Center after he fell while trying to replace a window in his home at 1130 Blue Sage Drive, Steamboat Springs police Capt. Joel Rae said. Siettmann later was flown to Denver Medical Health Center, where he was treated for his injuries. He was admitted to the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the Health Center, where he was listed in critical condition Thursday.

The accident happened at 8:20 p.m. When ambulance crews arrived, Siettmann was breathing but unconscious, Rae said.

Siettmann was trying to replace the second-story window from the inside of the home when he fell through the window and onto the asphalt driveway below.

Siettmann’s wife, Judy, heard the crash and called 911.
