Kidd again leads club Alpine skiers in Holiday Classic finale

Steamboat Springs — Once again, Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club's Serina Kidd led all locals in the final day of the Surefoot Holiday Classic at Howelsen Hill on Sunday.
Kidd, an under-18 skier who placed 12th in Saturday's ladies slalom, slipped to 18th on Sunday but still paced all Steamboat athletes. Kidd had a two-run combined time of 1 minute, 36.59 seconds, using a 12th-best second run of 47.43 seconds to push her way up the leaderboard.
Natalie Pearl (Under-21) was 22nd in 1 minute, 37.51 seconds. Jill Jennerjahn and Marnie Buckley crossed in 32nd place and 34th place, respectively. All are Winter Sports Club athletes.
A day after catching the eye of Winter Sports Club Alpine Director Deb Armstrong for her 14th-place slalom performance, Ellese Lupori struggled Sunday, slowing up on her first run and recording a did not finish in Run Two.
Saturday’s winner, Hailey Duke, did not finish Sunday.
In the men's slalom, Steamboat's Zak Kjos was the top local finisher in the deep field, coming in at 35th with a combined time of 1 minute, 35.56 seconds. Parker Temple was the only other Winter Sports Club skier to place, using a two-run time of 2 minutes, 2.85 seconds to finish 52nd overall.
Denver University skier and Croatia representative Sebastian Brigovic won Sunday's slalom in 1 minute, 25.06 seconds, including the day's most blazing time in Run Two, crossing in 40.27 seconds.
The top USA representative was under-21 skier Scott Snow from the University of New Mexico in third place. Denver University's Taylor Shiffrin was fourth.
The Winter Sports Club Alpine team six-day giant slalom and super-G competition at Steamboat Ski Area on Sitz and See Me runs start Friday. The team then will head to Aspen on Jan. 3 to 5 for the Surefoot FIS NJR 2 giant slalom and super-G.
