Kelley back in force for Soroco cross country team

The Soroco High School cross country team was plenty fast Saturday as it competed in the Anna Banana Memorial Wildcat Invitational in Fruita.

Senior Ben Kelley competed for the first time this fall, missing the early portion of the schedule as he recovered from an injury. He made the most of that opportunity to stretch his legs, winning the boys 5-kilometer race in 16 minutes, 8.50 seconds, only 8.5 seconds off his career-best time. He was tops in the 93-runner field.

Brad Veilleux was 58th for the boys, Alex Colby 65th and Joshua Taing 75th.

Chloe Veilleux laid down a swift performance on the girls side, as well. She finished third in 19:51.40. Charlee Veilleux was 34th, Kourtney Bruner 38th and Mattie Rossi 45th.
