Jason Peasley: 5A is big win for entire community

YEA for 5A! The Yampa Valley Housing Authority is grateful for the trust the community has placed in us by approving the 5A For HOMES ballot initiative. This is a big win for our entire community.

Over the next 10 years, this 1-mill property tax will provide funding dedicated to developing new affordable housing for local residents. It will help retain our talented local workforce, our young professionals and our middle-class, while preserving our prized community character.

YVHA is already working on plans to develop additional low-income rental units, year-round seasonal rental beds, as well as permanently affordable entry-level rental and for-purchase housing that will help locals stay local.

Dozens of dedicated community volunteers worked tirelessly on the Community Housing Working Groups, the Community Housing Steering Committee and on the 5A For HOMES Campaign Committee. When asked, numerous community members generously contributed to the 5A For HOMES campaign.

All deserve a huge shout out and thank-you from YVHA. Each has been instrumental in helping to move the 5A For HOMES ballot initiative successfully across the finish line. Thank you.
